Almost every luxury resort in the district has a swimming pool, some of which are big enough to go boating in. Internet access is also provided so there is always something to keep everyone busy and entertained. Just to the south of Port Douglas are Palm Cove, Trinity Beach and Cairns. All of these have something special to offer in the way of activities. The beaches all have stinger nets for safe swimming enclosures. Cairns has activities like the Skyrail to take you to the quaint rainforest town of Kuranda. Some of the mountain streams in the region are also great for a day out. Just inland from Port Douglas is the Mossman Gorge which provides a fantastic picnic destination with excellent swimming available in the clear mountain water.
